In a woman’s life, pregnancy is a life event and every woman needs a person to rely upon. She seeks a bonding and a certain level of trust, preferably on a person from her own community, so that she can share her health problems. The midwives can help avert roughly 3.6 million deaths by 2015. “Midwives don’t just deliver babies. They enable effective family planning, prevent malaria in pregnancy and mother to child transmission of HIV” Kate Gilmore said at Women Deliver Conference 2013 in Kuala Lumpur.
